Three Eisenhower dollars, copper-nickel clad, with no silver content. The photographs show a 1971 with no mint mark, a 1971-D and a 1974-D, and each mint mark spot is sharp enough to read or to confirm as empty. All three appear to grade uncirculated or near to it, with full cheek, jaw and hair detail and light golden-grey toning. Defects are minor: the 1974-D has fine hairlines in the left field and dark ticks near the ear, the 1971 with no mint mark has contact marks and a small scratch below the eye, and the 1971-D has light field haze and a dark speck on the cheek. Reverses carry strong eagle and lunar surface detail with warm golden peripheral toning. No rim damage and no corrosion. Background: the Eisenhower dollar was authorized in 1970 to honor both the president, who died in 1969, and the Apollo 11 landing, with Frank Gasparro adapting the reverse from the mission patch. At 38 millimeters it was too big for daily use. Estimated Value: $5 to $8. Sold as-is. Photos are the most accurate description of this lot.
