Four Kennedy half dollars, copper-nickel clad, with no silver content. Bidders should know these are NOT Bicentennial coins. Every one carries the regular heraldic eagle reverse and a single date, with no 1776-1976 dual date anywhere in the lot. The dates read 1972 with no mint mark, a second 1972 with no mint mark, 1973-D, and 1974 with no mint mark. The photographs show circulated pieces with dull grey surfaces, muted luster, and softening on the cheek and hair high points, most obvious on the two 1972 coins. The 1974 has a dark nick just above the ear and small dark flecks near the hairline. One 1972 has a scrape across the ear and cheek with grainy rubbed surfaces, and the other has a warm brassy cast and rub across the cheek. Reverses are grey with worn eagle breast feathers. No rim damage and no corrosion. Teaching point: Kennedy halves were 90 percent silver in 1964, 40 percent silver from 1965 through 1970, and clad from 1971 on. These are the clad years.
