A sterling silver-backed hairbrush, the reverse decorated with a linear engine-turned pattern within a foliate engraved border and featuring a central unengraved shield-shaped cartouche. The handle tapers to a rounded point and the bristles are set into a cream-coloured insert. Stamped to the side of the silver frame STERLING 925 followed by a script R and a symbol of a bird in flight (maker unconfirmed, recheck). Dimensions measured against a tape measure: Length: approx. 26.7 cm Width: approx. 7.6 cm Gross weight: 164 g. Condition: The silver back and handle exhibit a significant amount of surface tarnish and fine scratching consistent with age and use. The bristles show some minor signs of age but remain in good, usable condition.
