A sterling silver brooch by Cheviot, Scotland, from the Scottish Heritage Collection. The piece is designed in the form of a traditional Scottish dirk or dagger, featuring an oval-faceted purple stone claw-set into a thistle-motif pommel. The hilt and blade are decorated with cast Celtic knotwork and textured detailing. The reverse is fitted with a hinged pin and a simple C-clasp. A recessed mark area is present on the reverse, currently unconfirmed due to surface tarnish. Weight 3 g (measured on a scale) Length approx. 5.7 cm (approximate, measured against a ruler). Condition: The brooch remains in good structural condition with the gemstone securely set. The silver surface displays significant tarnish and oxidation, particularly on the reverse.
