This single octagonal earthenware vase features a tall, eight-sided form with a cream-coloured glazed body. The upper section is decorated with a wide polychrome transfer frieze depicting an exotic bird amongst stylized flowers, including large blossoms in blue, pink, and purple. The decorative band is framed by gilded borders, and a delicate floral vine border runs around the base. The underside of the base features impressed marks reading MADE IN ENGLAND and a faint letter H, attributed to H.J. Wood Ltd (Bursley Ware), alongside a hand-painted pattern number 4391 in gold script. Dimensions (measured against a ruler): H 26.7 cm x W 11.4 cm. Condition: The vase exhibits extensive fine crazing to the glaze throughout the exterior and interior surfaces. No chips, cracks, or restorations are apparent. Minor surface dirt and staining are present to the interior.
