A lot comprising two late 19th to early 20th-century English two-tone salt-glazed stoneware vessels. The collection includes a small cylindrical spirits jug featuring a dark brown iron-oxide glaze to the shoulder, neck, and single loop handle, with the lower body finished in a light buff-coloured salt glaze. The second piece is a cylindrical preserve jar with a wide, lipped neck, finished in a light ochre or mustard-yellow glaze to the upper section and a buff salt glaze to the lower body. The jar is decorated with a band of impressed repeating milling or rope-pattern decoration around the shoulder, a feature characteristic of regional potteries such as Pearsons of Chesterfield. Both pieces show typical kiln-firing marks and minor surface staining consistent with age and domestic use. Dimensions (measured against a ruler showing inches only): Jug: H 14.3 cm x Diameter 9.2 cm Jar: H 18.4 cm x Diameter 10.2 cm. Condition: The spirits jug exhibits fine surface crazing to the lower section and minor kiln-firing imperfections. The preserve jar has a notable chip to the base rim and some light surface staining. Both items are free of cracks or visible restoration.
