One lot comprising an antique commercial shipping crate and a vintage metal storage box. The wooden crate features advertising for Perry Davis' Vegetable Pain-Killer, manufactured by Perry Davis and Son of Providence, Rhode Island, U.S.A. It is constructed from timber with finger-jointed corners. The exterior displays two distinct printed panels: one side featuring a large orange circular graphic with stylized black text, and another with a detailed monochrome lithographed portrait of Perry Davis surrounded by allegorical figures and the banner Joy to the World. Text on the side panel specifies the crate was designed to hold twenty-four medium-size bottles. The interior base retains circular staining consistent with previous bottle storage. The second item is a mid-twentieth-century utility box made of painted metal with a galvanised interior. It features a top-mounted carry handle, a hinged lid, and a wire loop front latch. The rear panel is pierced with a cluster of seven small ventilation holes. Dimensions measured from visible scale: Crate: H approx. 21 cm x W approx. 16.5 cm Metal Box: H approx. 14 cm x W approx. 19 cm. Condition: The wooden crate shows signs of age and commercial use, including surface staining, dust, and minor abrasions to the wood. The printed advertising remains largely legible, though there is some fading and wear to the lithographed details, particularly along the top edges. The metal utility box exhibits significant cosmetic wear with extensive chipping and scratching to the dark brown paint finish, revealing the underlying silver-toned metal. There are white paint splashes on the exterior surfaces. Light surface oxidation is present on the interior and edges. The hinge and latch mechanisms are functional.
