One pair of decorative wall plaques featuring embossed metal sheets with a copper-toned finish set against a blackened, textured background. Each work is executed in a repoussé style depicting traditional Chinoiserie motifs. The first scene illustrates a male figure in traditional dress standing in a landscape with a bridge, a gnarled tree, and a distant pagoda. The second scene portrays a female figure in an elaborate gown holding a fan within a pavilion, positioned beside a vase containing flowers. The works are housed in cream-coloured frames decorated with a vertically incised pattern. The reverse is finished with brown paper and hanging wires. Dimensions (measured against a tape measure, inches only shown): H approx. 14.5 in x W approx. 11.5 in. Condition: The frames exhibit minor age-related wear, including small surface losses and scuffs to the cream finish. The embossed metal surfaces show light scratches and minimal oxidation. The paper backing on the verso of both frames is torn and shows signs of discolouration. Hanging wires are intact.
