Constructed with an aluminum body stamped M6/10/38 near the neck, this pre-WWII German field canteen features a brown wool/felt cover with brass PRYM snap closures, a dark leather harness, and a metal attachment clip stamped with a maker logo. The assembly includes an aluminum screw cap stamped SSL36 and a black-painted aluminum cup. The interior lip of the wool cover retains an ink size marking reading 0,7 ltr. This example exhibits honest age and service wear throughout, including paint chipping and scuffing on the black metal cup, minor finish wear to the aluminum body, light tarnish on hardware, and stiffness, cracking, or surface wear along the leather harness. Measures 11 x 7 inches. A well-documented, period-assembled German fieldpiece featuring early RZM and date markings, making a great addition to European militaria collections.
