This grouping centers on a pair of Hartmann-Optik Wetzlar 6x30 "Porlerim" Leichtmetall binoculars, identified by ultra-low serial number 117. Produced by one of Wetzlar’s renowned boutique optical firms, this early production unit was crafted using advanced lightweight alloys to maximize portability in the field. The binoculars measure 11.4 cm H x 16.5 cm W (4.5" H x 6.5" W) and have a weight of 461 g (1 lb 0.3 oz). The glass elements are clear and defect-free, with factory-smooth focusing, precise mechanical function, and distinct "silvering" along exposed alloy edges, indicative of field use. Accompanied by the original heavy leather case measuring 13.3 cm H x 17.8 cm W (5.25" H x 7.0" W), which features a functioning front clasp; its rear hinge is broken, leaving the lid removable, but the leather retains its integrity for restoration. This set represents a significant benchmark in early precision alloy optical engineering and is suitable for specialists in Wetzlar optical history. PM/OT
