Produced during World War II by Hensoldt Werk Für Optik Und Mechanik in Herborn, Germany, under ordnance code "bmj", this Rbl.F. 32 (Rundblickfernrohr 32) periscopic artillery panoramic sight features upper circular housing stampings reading "Rbl.F.32", code "bmj", cold-weather lubricant indicator cross symbol "+", serial number "513714", "M", and mil-scale designation "H/6400". The sight measures 9 inches high by 5 inches wide by 4.5 inches deep (22.9 cm H x 12.7 cm W x 11.4 cm D) and weighs2,197 grams (4 lbs 13.5 oz). Constructed with heavy steel and brass housing components, silvered micrometer scale rings with red and black indexing, and a large knurled side adjustment drum assembly, the unit maintains smooth, full mechanical movement across all dials and levers. Optical glass is clear overall with light dust spotting, and the internal reticle grid and crosshairs remain clearly visible. The lower horizontal spirit level housing is intact, though the internal bubble fluid is no longer present. All metal blued and dark factory finishes remain unrestored with no repainting, exhibiting age-appropriate surface wear, minor oxidation, and edge patina.
