Vintage Snakeskin Leica-Style Zorki Camera

This is a vintage 35mm rangefinder camera, aesthetically modified to resemble a pre-war Leica II (D). While the top plate features hand-engraved "Leica" and "Ernst Leitz Wetzlar" branding, technical indicators—such as the shutter release surround and rangefinder cam shape—suggest the camera is a post-war Soviet derivative, likely a Zorki, customized at a later date for the collectors' market. The camera is solidly constructed and features a distinctive snakeskin-patterned leatherette covering, which remains in good condition without significant cracking or flaking. The top and bottom plates show authentic brassing, consistent with age and handling. It is fitted with a collapsible Leitz Elmar 50mm f/3.5 style lens (likely a Soviet Industar variant) that retracts smoothly. Technical Condition: Mechanicals: Shutter winds and cocks; however, shutter speeds appear significantly slower than indicated. Optics/Interior: Some dust is visible in the film chamber and on the lens elements, but no significant corrosion is present. Accessories: Includes a brown leather "Leica" embossed ever-ready case with some broken stitching; no carrying strap is included.
