This World War I era 6x Heli-Trieder pattern binocular was manufactured by C.P. Goerz in Berlin and showcases both clear stamped and hand-engraved historic markings. The upper prism plates display "C.P. GOERZ BERLIN" and "6x HELI-TRIEDER D.R.P.", while the center bridge hinge bears the serial number 470117. Notably, period hand-scratched inscriptions appear on the objective cover plate, reading "S.B.W. 7-10-17 CO: G-167th INF. LUNEVILLE FRANCE," pinpointing its provenance to an American soldierin France during 1917. The binoculars stand 3.75 inches high by 6.25 inches wide (9.5 cm H x 15.9 cm W) and weigh 517 grams (1 lb 2.2 oz). The body features black brass trim, textured coverings, and retains full function with smooth hinge, working diopters, and good optics aside from a small dust spot in the left barrel. The factory black finish displays visible brass edging consistent with age.
