Constructed in 1915 under a WWI naval contract, this Carl Zeiss Jena "Marineglas" binocular set bears serial number 546892. It features a robust heavy brass frame designed to withstand maritime conditions during the Great War. The binoculars measure11.4 cm H x 16.5 cm W (4.5" H x 6.5" W) and weigh 660 g (1 lb 7.3 oz). The individual ocular focusing functions with factory-smooth precision. The body displays authentic field wear characterized by "brass-peaking" and areas of verdigris oxidation around the ringed details. The optical glass remains clear and defect-free, while both the hinge and focusing adjustments operate fluidly. Accompanying the binoculars is the original reddish-brown leather case, which retains tight stitching and operational hardware and measures 14.0 cm H x 17.8 cm W (5.5" H x 7.0" W). The period-specific patina of both the instrument and case attests to extended, high-integrity naval service. PM/OT
