This is a WWII German military M31 pattern large-format field rucksack measuring 16.0" x 16.0". Constructed from heavy olive-green canvas, this variant features two prominent exterior front pockets with leather strap closures, a large main drawstringcompartment, and integrated leather shoulder straps with aluminum hardware fittings. Designed for higher storage capacity, this pattern was primarily issued to mountain troops (Gebirgsjäger), artillery, and support personnel during extended operations. Condition is good overall and structurally sound, exhibiting natural canvas fading, light field soiling, expected age cracking to the central main closure strap, and light surface oxidation on the metal fittings.
