This pair of Fernglas 08 binoculars, dating to World War I, was manufactured by G. Rodenstock in München as indicated by the stamped markings "G. Rodenstock", "Fernglas 08", "Nº 18317", and "München" on the circular central hinge washer. The binoculars feature brown synthetic bakelite eyecups fitted to the diopter rings. Measuring 4.25 inches high by 4.75 inches wide (10.8 cm H x 12.1 cm W) and weigh 500 grams (1 lb 1.6 oz)., the set presents with a gray-green repainted metal barrel finish while eyecups and objective trim rings retain their original color. Both hinge adjustment and diopter focus mechanisms function smoothly, and the lenses offer clear viewing with only minor, light surface scratches. This structurally sound set represents typical German field equipment of its era.
