A collection of approximately 20 early 20th-century phonograph cylinder records manufactured by the National Phonograph Co. of Orange, New Jersey. The assortment includes Edison Blue Amberol cylinders, composed of blue celluloid over aplaster core, and Edison Gold Moulded cylinders, made of black hard-wax. Many of the records are contained within their original cylindrical cardboard storage canisters, which feature the portrait of Thomas A. Edison. Legible titles andcatalogue numbers embossed on the cylinder rims include Lincoln's Speech at Gettysburg (1651) recited by Harry E. Humphrey, Rebecca of Sunny-brook Farm (2270), I've Got the Sweetest Girl (3217), Duet in Monkey Land (9700), and BarnyardSerenade (9161). Artists represented in the collection include Byron G. Harlan, H. Williamson, B. Lennon, L. James, and V. Archibald. Several of the cardboard lids feature handwritten identification labels for titles such as Mule Song,The Blue Amberol cylinders are generally in good to very good condition, showing light surface dust and expected wear to the interior plaster cores. The black wax Gold Moulded cylinders exhibit more varied condition.
