This collection consists of 22 Edison Blue Amberol phonograph cylinder records, manufactured by Thomas A. Edison, Inc., Orange, New Jersey, between approximately 1912 and 1929. These are 4-minute format recordings consisting of a bluecelluloid surface over a plaster composition core. The group includes a variety of musical genres and spoken word performances typical of the era, such as vocal quartets, instrumental trios, and comedic sketches. Identifiable titlesinclude The Bridge by the Knickerbocker Quartet (1901), Kentucky Babe by the Manhattan Quartet (2399), Serenade by the Tollefsen Trio (1570), Uncle Josh and the Soldier by Cal Stewart (2318), and Sing Me the Rosary by Irving Gillette(2222). Most cylinders are stored in original blue cardboard canisters featuring gold-tone graphics and the portrait of Thomas A. Edison. The cylinder rims are stamped with various patent dates, including September 30, 1902, November 17,Media: VG (Very Good). The blue celluloid surfaces appear intact with minor surface dust and light grime. Plaster cores show typical signs of aging, including minor flaking or darkening at the ends. Cylinders are untested for playback.
