This collection consists of 18 phonograph cylinder records manufactured by Thomas A. Edison, Inc. in Orange, New Jersey, dating from approximately 1908 to the early 1920s. The group includes two distinct 4-minute formats: the early blackwax Amberol cylinders and the later blue celluloid Blue Amberol cylinders. Most items are housed in their original green cardboard storage canisters featuring the portrait of Thomas Edison. The collection encompasses a wide range of early20th-century popular music, sacred works, marches, and comedy sketches. Transcribed titles and performers include: Amberol 297: Just Before the Battle Mother by Campbell and Gillette Amberol 298: He Leadeth Me by Edison Mixed QuartetteAmberol 305: Angels From the Realms of Glory by Edison Concert Band Amberol 767: The Maple Leaf Forever by Knickerbocker Quartette and New York Military Band Amberol 853: If the Waters Could Speak as They Flow by W.H. Thompson and MixedMedia: Fair to Good. The Blue Amberol celluloid cylinders appear generally stable with surface dust and minor handling marks.
