A collection of 21 Edison Blue Amberol cylinder records manufactured by Thomas A. Edison, Inc. between 1912 and 1929. These records are 4-minute format celluloid cylinders featuring a blue playing surface over a plaster core. Thecollection represents a variety of genres from the early 20th century, including popular music, gospel, and topical recordings. Notable titles and artists transcribed from the embossed cylinder rims include The John T. Scopes Trial (No.5059) by Vernon Dalhart, The Runaway Train (No. 5028) by Vernon Dalhart, Mammy's Lullaby (No. 3729) by the Premier Quartet, Peaches and Cream (No. 1971) by Ada Jones, and She's My Daisy (No. 1817) by Harry Lauder. Additional titlesidentified include Life's Railway to Heaven (No. 3441) by E. Allen, In the Garden (No. 3164) by Apollo, Oh Johnny, Oh Johnny, Oh (No. 3237), and Rye Waltzes (No. 2296). The records are housed in original cardboard canisters with orange and Media: The blue celluloid surfaces are generally well-preserved with minor surface dust and occasional rim chips. Most cylinders exhibit typical plaster core deterioration, characterized by white powdery residue and internal swelling.
