18 Edison Blue Amberol Phono Cylinder Records

This lot comprises approximately 18 phonograph cylinder records manufactured by Thomas A. Edison, Inc. under the Blue Amberol brand. These records were produced circa 1912 to 1915 and are constructed from blue celluloid over aplaster-of-Paris core, designed for a four-minute playback duration. The collection includes the associated cylindrical cardboard storage tubes, some featuring the portrait of Thomas A. Edison and the notation Form 475. Dec. 1913. Therepertoire includes early 20th-century popular music, marches, comic sketches, and operatic trios. Visible catalog numbers and titles include 2034 Gold and Silver Waltz by the National Promenade Band, 3015 On the South Sea Isle by HelenClark, 2804 Henry Gibson's Narrow Escape by Billy Golden and James Marlowe, 2580 I Didn't Raise My Boy to be a Soldier by Helen Clark and Chorus, 1821 I Love a Lassie by Harry Lauder, 1548 Oh What a Beautiful Dream by Walter Van Brunt andMedia: Fair to Good. The blue celluloid surfaces show light scuffs and dust consistent with age. Several cylinder cores exhibit plaster mold or mildew, appearing as a white powdery residue on the interior and occasionally the exterior surface.
