"Eleanor Ami" Signed Hopi-Tewa Pottery Bowl

Vintage Hopi-Tewa pottery bowl by Eleanor Ami, hand signed on the underside “Eleanor Ami / Polacca,” with an additional small marking. Measures approximately 2.5" tall x 2.5" wide. Eleanor Ami is a documented Hopi-Tewa potter associated with the pottery tradition at Hopi. Museum of Northern Arizona archival records document pottery by Eleanor Ami as early as 1970, identifying her as Tewa. She is also documented as an accomplished potter who passed her pottery-making knowledge to later generations of her family, including her grandsons Loren Ami and Emerson Ami. This small vessel features a warm reddish-orange ground decorated with a bold black-on-red geometric design wrapping around the body. The decoration incorporates sweeping curved forms, fine parallel lines and small accent elements, creating a strong graphic composition despite the vessel's compact size. The underside retains the artist's handwritten identification and Polacca attribution. A particularly nice collectible example for a collection of Hopi pottery, Hopi-Tewa ceramics, Pueblo pottery or Southwestern Native American art. Preowned vintage condition with surface wear, rubbing and minor imperfections consistent with age and handling.
