Three Antique German Bisque-Head Dolls Including J

This lot features three antique German bisque-head dolls representing various makers and construction types. The first is a J. D. Kestner bisque socket head doll on a jointed kid leather body with bisque lower arms and hands. The head is incised 154 Dep. 10. and features a blonde mohair wig, blue glass sleep eyes, and an open mouth with four teeth. The torso retains an oval paper label with a crown and JDK logo, marked Germany 1/2 Cork Stuffed. It is dressed in a period-style white cotton lace gown and a floral-adorned straw hat. The second is a W. Goebel bisque socket head doll on a ball-jointed composition and wood body. The neck is incised with the W. Goebel stylized butterfly trademark, the number 30, Bavaria, and the number 6. Features include a brown wig, blue glass sleep eyes, and an open mouth with teeth. The doll is dressed in a brown and tan striped silk-like ensemble with a feathered hat. The third is a J. D. Kestner bisque socket head doll on a jointed kid leather body with composition arms. The torso bears a faded purple JDK crown and ribbon stamp. The head features an auburn wig and an open mouth with teeth, though the glass sleep eyes have become dislodged and are located inside the head cavity. This doll is dressed in a tiered yellow lace gown with matching hat and shoes. Height: 22 inches Height: 19.5 inches Height: 18.5 inches. The collection is in varied condition consistent with age. The Kestner 154 doll is in good overall condition, exhibiting a visible repair patch to the right shoulder and minor surface staining to the kid body. The W. Goebel doll displays a significant hairline crack extending from the right forehead to the ear, a small chip to the neck flange, and generalized crazing and finish loss to the composition body. The smaller Kestner doll shows mechanical failure with dislodged eyes, heavy adhesive residue to the crown, and surface wear to the kid leather body.
