1898 Morgan Silver Dollar, struck at the Philadelphia Mint. This classic late-19th-century U.S. silver dollar is a popular issue among Morgan Dollar collectors and is available in a wide range of circulated and Mint State grades. Please review the photos for the exact condition, surfaces, strike, and overall appearance. The Morgan Dollar was designed by George T. Morgan and was first introduced in 1878. The obverse features Liberty wearing a Phrygian cap, while the reverse depicts a heraldic eagle with outstretched wings holding arrows and an olive branch. The 1898 Philadelphia issue had a mintage of 5,884,000 coins. Although the date is readily available in circulated grades, the issue becomes scarcer in higher Mint State grades. PCGS notes that most examples are sharply struck and display average to excellent luster.
