1988 American Silver Eagle, a classic early issue from the U.S. Mint's Silver Eagle program. The American Silver Eagle series debuted in 1986, making this 1988 example one of the earlier issues in the series. Please review the photos for the exact condition, surfaces, and overall appearance. The obverse features Adolph A. Weinman's Walking Liberty design, originally used on the Walking Liberty Half Dollar, while the reverse features the heraldic eagle designed by John Mercanti. The 1988 bullion issue had a mintage of 5,004,646 coins, making it a relatively low-mintage early Silver Eagle. The bullion version carries no mint mark. The coin contains 1 troy ounce of .999 fine silver, weighs approximately 31.103 grams, measures 40.6 mm in diameter, and features a reeded edge.
