1889 Morgan Silver Dollar, struck at the Philadelphia Mint. This classic late-19th-century U.S. silver dollar is a popular issue among Morgan Dollar collectors. Please review the photos for the exact condition, surfaces, strike, and overall appearance. The Morgan Dollar was designed by George T. Morgan and was first introduced in 1878. The obverse features Liberty wearing a Phrygian cap, while the reverse depicts a heraldic eagle with outstretched wings holding arrows and an olive branch. The 1889 Philadelphia issue had a mintage of 21,726,000 coins. Although the date is readily available in circulated grades and lower Mint State grades, high-grade examples become considerably scarcer. PCGS estimates approximately 2.2 million examples survive in all grades, with only about 6,700 estimated at MS65 or better.
