1887-O Morgan Silver Dollar, struck at the New Orleans Mint. This classic late-19th-century U.S. silver dollar is a popular issue among Morgan Dollar collectors, with notable scarcity in higher grades. Please review the photos for the exact condition, surfaces, strike, and overall appearance. The Morgan Dollar was designed by George T. Morgan and was first introduced in 1878. The obverse features Liberty wearing a Phrygian cap, while the reverse depicts a heraldic eagle with outstretched wings holding arrows and an olive branch. The 1887-O had a mintage of 11,550,000 coins. Despite the substantial original mintage, the issue is known for being poorly struck, with many examples showing weak details and subdued luster. Circulated examples and lower Mint State pieces are relatively available, while sharply struck examples in higher grades are considerably scarcer.
