Offered is a 1971-S Eisenhower Silver Dollar, commonly known as a “Blue Ike.” This first-year collector issue was struck at the San Francisco Mint in 40% silver and originally issued in the distinctive blue U.S. Mint packaging. Please review the photos for the exact condition and packaging included. The Eisenhower Dollar was introduced in 1971 and honors President Dwight D. Eisenhower. The obverse features Eisenhower's portrait, while the reverse depicts an eagle landing on the Moon, based on the Apollo 11 mission insignia. The 1971-S Blue Ike was struck specifically for collectors as an uncirculated 40% silver-clad coin. A total of 6,868,530 were produced, with each containing approximately 0.3161 troy ounces of silver. The “Blue Ike” nickname comes from the blue envelope and packaging in which these coins were originally distributed.
