Offered is an 1896-O Barber Half Dollar, struck at the New Orleans Mint. This classic early U.S. silver coin features the iconic Barber design and is an excellent addition to a collection of 19th-century American coinage. Please review the photos for the exact condition and details of the coin. The Barber Half Dollar was designed by U.S. Mint Chief Engraver Charles E. Barber and was produced from 1892 through 1915. The obverse features Liberty wearing a cap and laurel wreath, while the reverse displays a heraldic eagle with a shield, arrows, and olive branches. The 1896-O had a mintage of only 924,000 pieces at the New Orleans Mint. It was struck in 90% silver and 10% copper, with a weight of 12.5 grams and a diameter of approximately 30.6 mm.
