Offered is an 1829 Capped Bust Half Dollar in About Uncirculated (AU) condition. This classic early American silver half dollar was struck at the Philadelphia Mint and features the iconic Capped Bust design by John Reich. Please review the photos for the exact condition, strike, and surface characteristics. The Capped Bust Half Dollar was produced from 1807 through 1839. The obverse features Liberty facing left wearing a capped headpiece, while the reverse displays a heraldic eagle with a shield, arrows, and olive branch. The edge is lettered “FIFTY CENTS OR HALF A DOLLAR.” The 1829 issue had a mintage of 3,712,156 pieces. It was struck from approximately 89.2% silver and 10.8% copper, with a standard weight of about 13.5 grams and a diameter of 32.5 mm. The 1829 issue is also known for several die varieties, including Large Letters, Small Letters, and the 1829/7 overdate.
