1920-S Buffalo Nickel graded PCI VF20, struck at the San Francisco Mint. This early Buffalo Nickel carries a VF20 (Very Fine) grade from PCI, with moderate circulation wear while retaining substantial design detail. Please review the photos for the exact surfaces, strike, toning, and overall appearance. The Buffalo Nickel was designed by sculptor James Earle Fraser and introduced in 1913. The obverse features a Native American portrait, while the reverse depicts an American bison standing on a raised mound. The 1920-S had a mintage of 9,689,000 coins. San Francisco Buffalo Nickels from this era can be challenging to find with strong details, as many examples saw heavy circulation. The “S” mint mark appears on the reverse below the denomination.
