1919-S Buffalo Nickel, struck at the San Francisco Mint. This early Buffalo Nickel is a desirable date-and-mint issue, particularly in higher grades, and is an important addition for collectors building a complete Buffalo Nickel collection. Please review the photos for the exact condition, surfaces, strike, and overall appearance. The Buffalo Nickel was designed by sculptor James Earle Fraser and introduced in 1913. The obverse features a Native American portrait, while the reverse depicts an American bison standing on a raised mound. The 1919-S had a mintage of 7,521,000 coins. Despite the relatively modest mintage, the issue is especially challenging in higher grades and is known for strike weakness and extensive circulation wear. The “S” mint mark appears on the reverse below the denomination.
