1914-S Buffalo Nickel, struck at the San Francisco Mint. This early Buffalo Nickel is a desirable issue for collectors, particularly in higher grades, and is an important date-and-mint example from the series. Please review the photos for the exact condition, surfaces, strike, and overall appearance. The Buffalo Nickel was designed by sculptor James Earle Fraser and was introduced in 1913. The obverse features a Native American portrait, while the reverse depicts an American bison standing on a raised mound. The 1914-S had a mintage of 3,470,000 coins, making it considerably scarcer than the Philadelphia issue. Like many early San Francisco Buffalo Nickels, the 1914-S is particularly challenging in higher grades due to wear, striking characteristics, and limited preservation.
