1885 Liberty Head V Nickel, struck at the Philadelphia Mint. This is a key date in the Liberty Head Nickel series and one of the lowest-mintage regular issues of the entire series. Please review the photos for the exact condition, surfaces, strike, and overall appearance. The Liberty Head Nickel was designed by Charles E. Barber and was produced from 1883 through 1912. The obverse features Liberty surrounded by stars, while the reverse displays a large Roman numeral “V” within a wreath. The 1885 Philadelphia issue had a mintage of only 1,473,300 coins, making it one of the most sought-after dates in the series. The 1885 is particularly popular with collectors and is considered one of the three major key dates of the Liberty Head Nickel series, along with the 1886 and 1912-S.
