1923-S Lincoln Cent, struck at the San Francisco Mint. This early Lincoln Wheat Cent is a desirable issue for collectors building a complete date-and-mint collection. Please review the photos for the exact condition, color, luster, surfaces, and overall appearance. The Lincoln Cent was introduced in 1909 and features Victor David Brenner’s portrait of Abraham Lincoln on the obverse and the classic wheat-ear reverse. The 1923-S had a mintage of 6,440,000 coins, making it considerably scarcer than the Philadelphia issue. The coin was struck in 95% copper and 5% tin and zinc, weighs approximately 3.11 grams, measures about 19 mm in diameter, and has a plain edge. The “S” mint mark appears below the date on the obverse.
