Pierre-Paul Aird (Canadian, 20th Century). An impressionistic landscape painting executed in oil on canvas, depicting a rural scene in Port-au-Persil, Charlevoix, Quebec. The composition features a cluster of white-walled farmhouses and outbuildings with red and blue roofs, arranged along a winding light-coloured path that leads towards a distant body of water. The work displays rhythmic, expressive brushwork with notable impasto texture in the foreground greenery and trees. The painting is signed and dated Aird 77 in the lower right corner. The verso is inscribed in pencil with Port au Persil - Co Charlevoix PQ and Aout 1977 (August 1977), alongside a flourish signature. The piece is presented in a mid-to-late 20th-century frame with a dark wood outer moulding, a wide recessed light-grey liner, and a gilt inner slip. A metal plaque inscribed Pierre Paul Aird is attached to the lower liner. Dimensions (measured against a ruler): H 45.1 cm x W 55.2 cm. Condition: The painting is in generally good condition with a light accumulation of surface dust. The frame exhibits minor scuffing and light wear, particularly at the corners and outer edges.
