An expressionistic painting by Carlos Cairoli, depicting two stylized figures in a semi-abstract composition. The work is rendered with heavy impasto and bold black outlines, utilizing a vibrant palette of yellow, blue, and green. The style displays a strong affinity with Neo-expressionism and the figurative abstractions of the mid-20th century, reminiscent of the work of Georges Rouault. The painting is signed Cairoli and dated 88 in the upper left corner. It is housed in a gold-toned metallic frame with a cream-coloured mat behind glass. A label on the reverse indicates provenance from Gallery Pegasus in North York, Ontario. Frame dimensions: H approx. 27 inches x W approx. 16 inches (measured against a visible tape measure). Condition: The painting remains in good condition with no visible paint loss or craquelure. Some minor surface marks are present on the matting. The frame shows light age-related wear and minor surface scuffs.
