AVAILABLE for SHIPPING or LOCAL PICKUP > Substantial Williamsburg Stieff pewter water pitcher standing 9" tall and measuring approximately 6" in diameter across the body, exclusive of the extended handle. Weighing 2-3/4 lbs, the pitcher has a documented capacity of approximately six pints or 96 ounces. The Colonial Revival form presents a full baluster body rising from a molded circular foot, a tall narrowing neck, broad pouring lip and large double scroll handle. An applied foliate terminal descends beneath the spout, introducing a restrained ornamental detail to the otherwise plain and substantial early American profile. The underside is impressed WILLIAMSBURG ~ STIEFF PEWTER, together with the Colonial Williamsburg emblem and pattern number CW95-10. The CW95 designation identifies this Williamsburg water pitcher form. The final number appears to be an internal production or issue code and should not be interpreted as the model number by itself. Stieff served as an official manufacturer of pewter and sterling reproductions for the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation. The Williamsburg line drew upon surviving 17th and 18th century American and English metalware forms preserved or interpreted for the restored Virginia capital. This pitcher combines that historical influence with the practical scale and weight expected of late 20th century Stieff pewter hollowware. CONDITION REPORT > As discovered, not cleaned or polished.
