AVAILABLE for SHIPPING or LOCAL PICKUP > Pair of vintage 1950s Manoil cast metal toy automobiles, each measuring approximately 5-3/4" to 6" long and retaining rolling black wheels on metal axles. The open blue automobile is modeled as a late 1940s to early 1950s Cadillac convertible, with a broad grille, paired headlamps, hood emblem, open passenger compartment, molded seats, steering wheel, upright windshield frame and pronounced rear tail fins. Documented Manoil examples of this Cadillac convertible are generally identified as 1949 models. The companion automobile is modeled as an early 1950s Packard two door hardtop, likely representing the Packard Mayfair or closely related Caribbean era styling. Details include Packard’s characteristic upright grille, hood ornament, long front fenders, removable or separately fitted contrasting blue roof, open window apertures and small rear fins. Packard used the Mayfair name for its 1951 through 1953 two door hardtop, followed by related Pacific and Caribbean models during the middle 1950s. Manoil Manufacturing Company began producing toys during the mid 1930s and remained active until 1959. Founded by brothers Maurice and Jack Manoil, the New York company became especially known for cast metal toy soldiers, civilian figures and vehicles. Its larger automobiles were substantial American made toys intended for active play rather than precise scale modeling. Both cars retain substantial original blue paint, with the Packard distinguished by a darker blue roof. Their cast bodies, simplified automotive details and heavy construction reflect Manoil’s postwar toy production. CONDITION REPORT > Extensive play wear throughout, including paint loss, abrasions, scratches, oxidation, exposed metal and accumulated surface residue. The darker blue roof of the Packard exhibits especially broad finish loss. As discovered, not cleaned or altered.
