AVAILABLE for SHIPPING or LOCAL PICKUP > Pair of handmade welded metal folk art sculptures assembled from repurposed railroad and industrial hardware. The baseball player stands 8-3/4" tall to the top of the simulated bat and is constructed around a substantial railroad spike, with welded metal elements forming the head, arms, legs and athletic stance. The figure is posed at bat, transforming the heavy utilitarian spike into a whimsical piece of American baseball folk art. The smaller insect figure stands approximately 2" tall and is fashioned with an old hex head screw forming the central body, accompanied by welded wire legs and antennae. The compact form may be interpreted as a bug, beetle or ant. Both examples retain the darkened, textured surfaces and visible welds associated with handmade found object sculpture, assemblage art and industrial metal folk art. CONDITION REPORT > Both antennae are detached from the insect figure. One detached antenna is retained and included; the other is absent.
