1910 KNICKERBOCKER SILVERPLATE EDWARDIAN PITCHER

AVAILABLE for SHIPPING or LOCAL PICKUP > Antique Knickerbocker Silver Co. silverplate presentation pitcher standing 7" tall to the elevated pouring lip and measuring approximately 5" in diameter across the shoulder, further extended by the large ornate handle. Produced in Port Jervis, New York, circa 1910, the pitcher is engraved 1885–1910, identifying it as a commemorative keepsake presented in recognition of a 25th anniversary. The substantial Edwardian-era form features a rounded, vertically paneled body, molded foot and tall concave neck rising to a dramatically swept pouring lip. A narrow band of scrolling foliate ornament follows the shaped upper rim. The high-loop handle is enriched with reeded contours, pronounced scroll terminals and foliate flourishes at the upper and lower attachments. One side is engraved with a large script R enclosed within an elaborate foliate cartouche, while the opposite side bears the anniversary dates 1885–1910. Whether presented for a silver wedding anniversary, institutional milestone or another significant 25-year observance, the personalized engraving gives the pitcher the character of a formal presentation piece rather than ordinary tableware. The underside bears the company’s figural trademark and the wording MANUFACTURED AND GUARANTEED BY KNICKERBOCKER SILVER CO., together with pattern or form number 1413 and HIGH GRADE METAL. Knickerbocker operated at Port Jervis, New York, beginning as the Knickerbocker Manufacturing Co. in 1894 and adopting the Knickerbocker Silver Co. name by the late 1890s. The firm remained active until 1962, when it was succeeded by Crescent Silverware Manufacturing Co. CONDITION REPORT > As discovered, not cleaned or polished.
