AVAILABLE for SHIPPING or LOCAL PICKUP > American Brilliant Period cut glass oil or vinegar cruet, circa 1890–1915, standing 5-1/2" tall to the top of the stopper. The rounded body measures approximately 3-1/2" in diameter across the shoulder and extends to 4" overall including the applied handle. Exceptionally substantial for the compact form, the cruet weighs approximately 1-1/4 pounds. The heavy clear glass body is richly decorated with large hobstar medallions, crosshatched diamond panels, fan and feather cutting and smaller radiating feather cuts arranged between the principal motifs. Slight variations in the length and placement of the smaller cuts, together with minor irregularities surrounding the polished circular centers, reflect the individually executed wheel-cut decoration associated with American Brilliant Period glass. Additional details include a deeply cut starburst beneath the base, applied clear glass handle, shaped pouring lip and a large multifaceted globe-form stopper, securely seated and in place. No maker’s signature or identifying mark was discovered.
