AVAILABLE for SHIPPING or LOCAL PICKUP > A well preserved example, stored in the custom case shown, measuring approximately 52" x 70" including the fringe, this vintage Pendleton Robe in a Bag stadium blanket is woven of 100% virgin wool in a dark plaid combining green, blue, black and narrow rust-colored lines. Long twisted fringe finishes both ends. The blanket retains the original woven Pendleton label reading WARRANTED TO BE A PENDLETON ~ PENDLETON WOOLEN MILLS ~ PORTLAND, OREGON ~ 100% VIRGIN WOOL ~ MADE IN U.S.A. It is accompanied by the original brown-trimmed zippered carrying case with clear vinyl front, which also retains a Pendleton label inside. These compact wool robes were designed for travel, motoring, picnics, sporting events and outdoor seating. Folded inside the padded carrying case, the blanket could be transported easily and also used as a stadium seat cushion. The matching labels confirm that the bag and blanket belong together as the original Pendleton set. Pendleton Woolen Mills became one of the best-known American producers of wool blankets and outdoor textiles, with its Oregon mills associated with durable virgin-wool fabrics and distinctive plaid designs. This Robe in a Bag set is consistent with Pendleton production of the mid-20th century, particularly the 1950s and 1960s.
