Antique FARMHOUSE Carved WOOD DOUGH BOWL TRENCHER

AVAILABLE for SHIPPING or LOCAL PICKUP > Measuring 21" L x 13" W across the oval body, excluding the extended tab handles, this substantial hand-carved wood dough bowl stands approximately 4" above a tabletop. The thick, elongated form is carved from a single block of wood with a broad rim, softly rounded interior basin and integral handles projecting from each end. Visible carving and shaping marks remain across the interior and exterior, while knots, grain variation and natural tonal changes contribute to the bowl’s rustic character. The thick-walled construction produces a shallow working basin rather than a deeply hollowed vessel. Bowls of this general form are commonly described as dough bowls or trenchers. Traditionally, similarly shaped wooden vessels were used for mixing, kneading and allowing bread dough to rise, while later examples have remained popular as farmhouse table centerpieces for fruit, seasonal arrangements and other decorative displays.
