NO SHIPPING ~ LOCAL PICKUP ONLY > Measuring approximately 15" to 16" across overall and standing approximately 4" to 5" tall at the raised ruffled edges, this substantial free form studio pottery bowl weighs a remarkable 6 pounds. The broad, irregularly shaped vessel rises and falls through a deeply undulating rim, creating a sculptural organic form with no two sides presenting exactly alike. The glazed interior transitions from lighter turquoise and aqua blue at the center into progressively deeper shades of cobalt blue toward the outer walls and edge. Radiating streaks and feathered areas of color spread outward from the center, emphasizing the hand formed shape and giving the bowl a dramatic watery appearance. The exterior and underside display darker brown, amber and charcoal tones beneath the glossy glaze. A distinctive woven or fabric-like texture appears across portions of the underside, suggesting the clay may have been formed or supported against a textured material during production. The recessed circular foot remains largely unglazed and bears the glaze written signature ~ HARRIS. No specific potter or pottery has been established beyond the HARRIS signature. The unusually heavy construction, expressive ruffled form and richly layered blue glaze give the piece strong appeal as a large centerpiece bowl, studio pottery display or sculptural decorative vessel.
