AVAILABLE for SHIPPING or LOCAL PICKUP > Standing 3-1/2" H to the handle and measuring 4" x 5-3/8", this small French porcelain basket is decorated in Haviland’s discontinued Rosalinde, France, Gold Trim pattern. The underside bears green HAVILAND LIMOGES and Haviland France Limoges marks, confirming French manufacture. The softly molded quatrefoil body has four rounded lobes, gently flared sides and a fixed arched handle accented by a narrow band of gold. Delicate sprays of pink roses, lavender and white blossoms, fine green foliage and trailing stems decorate both the interior and exterior against the bright white porcelain ground. The floral decoration follows the shaped contours of the basket, while the gold-striped handle provides a restrained formal accent. Rosalinde is associated with Haviland production during the mid-20th century, particularly the 1940s and 1950s, and was produced in both American and French versions. This example belongs to the French-made gold-trim variation and represents one of the smaller accessory forms produced to accompany the broader table service. Haviland’s history began in 1842, when American porcelain merchant David Haviland settled in Limoges to obtain and later manufacture fine French porcelain for the American market. Haviland developed decorating operations in Limoges and became one of the most influential names in French porcelain, combining Limoges craftsmanship with floral patterns and table forms tailored to American dining traditions.
