AVAILABLE for SHIPPING or LOCAL PICKUP > Despite lacking the race car, a fine example of the 1992 Hess Gasoline 18-Wheeler and Racer tractor-trailer measuring approximately 15" long × 3" wide × 4" tall. The complete set originally included a removable race car displayed through the trailer’s side windows; now lacking. The white and green tractor-trailer features clear display windows along both sides, chrome-tone trim, tandem rear axles, detailed landing gear and a rear loading door. The interior platform was designed to carry the original racer, while the rear license plate reads ~ HESS 1992 ~. The tractor-trailer features battery-operated headlights, taillights and illuminated side display panels. Tested with two C-cell batteries and functioning properly; batteries are not included. The battery compartment is located beneath the trailer. The 1992 issue was sold as the ~ 18 WHEELER AND RACER ~ within the long-running Hess holiday toy series. The Hess toy tradition began in 1964, when company founder Leon Hess introduced an affordable, well-constructed toy truck for sale during the Christmas season at Hess service stations. The annual green-and-white vehicles developed into a widely collected American holiday tradition recognized for detailed transportation themes, operating lights and moving features. CONDITION REPORT > The tractor-trailer presents well and is complete other than lacking the removable race car originally supplied as part of the set.
