AVAILABLE for SHIPPING or LOCAL PICKUP > A framed reproduction of ~ NOVEMBER ~ from Robert Furber’s celebrated botanical series ~ TWELVE MONTHS OF FLOWERS ~, measuring 16" wide × 20" tall overall. The print is presented beneath glass with a muted coral mat within a custom wood frame having a gold gilt finish and narrow dark inner molding. The composition presents an abundant arrangement of numbered seasonal flowers rising from an elaborate classical urn decorated with a winged figure. Individual varieties correspond with the handwritten identification key printed across the lower margin, while a cartouche at center identifies the month as ~ NOVEMBER ~. A fallen flower rests upon the architectural ledge beneath the bouquet. London nurseryman Robert Furber published ~ TWELVE MONTHS OF FLOWERS ~ in 1730 as a series of twelve botanical engravings showing flowers in bloom during each month. The compositions were based on paintings by Flemish artist Pieter Casteels III and engraved by Henry Fletcher. Although highly decorative, the series also functioned as an illustrated seed catalogue promoting plants available from Furber’s Kensington nursery. Each flower was numbered and identified below the image, with the complete series representing nearly 400 flowering varieties. This example is a later color reproduction of the original November engraving rather than an 18th-century hand-colored print. The elaborate urn, densely layered bouquet, numbered specimens and printed flower list preserve the instructional and ornamental character that made Furber’s series widely admired in England and abroad. CONDITION REPORT > An attractive framed botanical presentation ~ The print remains beneath glass and has not been removed for examination.
