AVAILABLE for SHIPPING or LOCAL PICKUP > Despite lacking the race car, a nice example of the 1991 Hess Gasoline Truck and Racer transport truck measuring approximately 12.25" long × 3.25" wide × 3.5" tall. The complete 1991 set originally included a removable low-profile race car with a friction-powered motor; now lacking. The truck features working headlights, roof marker lights and taillights operated by two C-cell batteries, tested and functioning properly; batteries are not included. Issued as the 1991 Hess holiday toy, the carrier features a rear loading deck with chrome-tone rails, textured black platform, tandem rear axles, side mirrors, ladder, fuel tanks, detailed grille and multiple roof marker lights. The rear plate reads ~ HESS 1991 ~. The Hess company originated in 1933 when Leon Hess began delivering fuel oil in New Jersey using a secondhand delivery truck. After opening the first Hess-branded gasoline station in 1960, Hess introduced the first holiday toy truck in 1964 as a high-quality, affordable gift for customers. The annual releases became one of the longest-running and most recognizable American holiday toy traditions, with detailed vehicles commonly incorporating working lights, moving parts and accessories reflecting Hess transportation and energy operations.
