A collection of silver 10-cent coins from Canada, issued during the reign of King George VI. The obverse features the George VI profile facing left, uncrowned. The coinage dated between 1942 and 1947 carries the legend GEORGIVS VI D:G:REX ET IND:IMP:, while the 1949 example features the legend GEORGIVS VI DEI GRATIA REX. The reverse displays the Schooner Bluenose type design by Emanuel Hahn, including the denomination 10 CENTS and the issuer CANADA. Dates represented include 1942, 1944, 1945, 1947, and 1949. Struck in 80% silver (0.800 fineness). The alteration in the 1949 obverse legend accounts for the independence of India and the subsequent removal of the Emperor of India title. Condition: Circulated condition. The coins show wear consistent with age and handling, particularly to the higher relief areas of the obverse and reverse. One 1942 coin exhibits heavy dark toning and oxidation across both faces. A 1945 coin shows a small patch of green verdigris at the rim. General surface marks, small scratches, and light toning are present across the collection.
